I am patient

The RHU ENVISAGE project aims to better understand heart valve diseases and improve your care through medical data analysis and artificial intelligence.

Understanding valvulopathy

Valvulopathies are diseases that affect the heart's valves. These valves allow blood to flow correctly between the different heart chambers. When they malfunction (narrowing or leakage), this can lead to symptoms such as breathlessness or fatigue.
Management depends on many factors, including the condition of the valve, symptoms and the patient's overall health.

The ENVISAGE project

The RHU ENVISAGE is a research program led by Bordeaux University Hospital, with the support of France 2030. Its ambition is to improve the care of patients suffering from heart valve disease, by relying in particular on artificial intelligence.

In concrete terms, the teams work from medical data derived from patient follow-up (imaging, clinical information, evolution over time). This data is then organized and structured for use in research. The aim is to develop tools capable of analyzing this information and providing useful support to physicians in their decision-making.

What's in it for patients?

In the long term, the ENVISAGE project aims to make concrete improvements to the management of patients with valvulopathies, by offering decision-support tools for medical teams.

In practice, this should enable treatments to be better tailored to each patient, taking into account their profile and the evolution of their disease. The tools developed will also help to better assess the risks associated with interventions, in order to guide therapeutic choices in a more informed way.

They will complement the physician's eye by relying on the analysis of large quantities of data, with the ambition of improving the results of interventions and limiting complications.

These approaches should contribute to making practices more homogeneous from one facility to another, thanks to shared and standardized tools.

Data protection, a priority

The protection of patients' personal data is at the heart of the ENVISAGE project. The health information used is processed in strict compliance with current regulations, in particular the RGPD and the rules governing health research.

Concretely, several measures are put in place to guarantee data security and confidentiality. They are stored in secure environments, with access limited to authorized persons only.

Data used for research are pseudonymized, so as not to allow direct identification of patients.

Access is supervised, controlled and traced, and the use of data is strictly limited to the scientific objectives of the project. Finally, each study is subject to the necessary ethical and regulatory approvals before it is implemented.
